AHIMSA
Association de rencontre, d'échange et
de réflexion en vue de participer à la construction d'un 21ième
siècle plus solidaire et moins violent et à l'élaboration
de nouvelles règles du jeu pour la civilisation du 3ième millénaire.
Les réunions/buffet sont organisées par les membres actifs en
après-midi et/ou en soirée en toute convivialité.
AHIMSA est un espace de rencontre non sectaire ouvert à toutes
propositions théoriques ou pratiques qui visent à remplacer ce
système violent, inique, absurde et stupide : le capitalisme.
AHIMSA est une association à but non lucratif - loi de 1901 (date
de déclaration au J.O. : le 11 octobre 1993) - et n'est affiliée
à aucun parti politique.
Ahimsa est un mot sanscrit traduit par : non-violence, respect de la
vie, abstention de faire du mal. Gandhi l'a utilisé lors de sa lutte
contre l'empire britannique. Le Dalaï-lama l'utilise pour désigner
le Tibet de demain, un sanctuaire neutre et démilitarisé ou les
gens vivront en harmonie avec la nature. Il pourrait être utilisé
contre la technocratie néo-libérale qui planifie dans l'éphémère
et contre le matérialisme scientiste.
AHIMSA encourage des comportements pacifiques à l'égard
des animaux et de la nature par la voie du cœur et de la compassion, encourage
la diminution de la consommation effrénée de matières et
d'énergies non renouvelables.
AHIMSA est contre : l'agriculture intensive, la déforestation,
le nucléaire, l'élevage en batterie et l'expérimentation
scientifique sur les animaux.
AHIMSA est pour : une meilleure façon de répartir les richesses
(naturelles ou produites par les machines), des comportements économiques
et sociaux plus solidaires, l'autogestion des entreprises, la coopération
Nord-Sud.
Ahimsa n'est qu'un mot pour rassembler les femmes et les hommes courageux,
prêts à se transformer pour construire un 21ième siècle
moins violent. Pour une société où les hommes vivront en
harmonie avec la nature et eux-mêmes.

Q : Can you tell us about ahimsa or non-violence?
A : Literally speaking, ahimsa means non-violence. But to me it has much
higher, infinitely higher meaning. It means that you may not offend anybody;
you may not harbor uncharitable thought, even in connection with those who consider
your enemies. To one who follows this doctrine, there are no enemies. A man
who believes in the efficacy of this doctrine finds in the ultimate stage, when
he is about to reach the goal, the whole world at his feet. If you express your
love- Ahimsa-in such a manner that it impresses itself indelibly upon your so
called enemy, he must return that love. This doctrine tells us that we may guard
the honor of those under our charge by delivering our own lives into the hands
of the man who would commit the sacrilege. And that requires far greater courage
than delivering of blows.

Ahimsa of Texas is a tax-deductible non-profit organization promoting
kindness to all life, with primary focus on eliminating the euthanasia of healthy
companion animals in our community shelters and animal pounds. We find ways

Ahimsa (Sanskrit) [from a not + the verbal root hims to injure, kill, destroy] Harmlessness; one of the cardinal virtues. The sanctity of life is imbodied in the teachings of the Buddhists and Jains, as well as of many Hindu schools. Asoka, the first Buddhist emperor, particularly espoused ahimsa as part of the practice of dharma. According to Manu (4:148), one may acquire the faculty of "remembering former births" by the observance of ahimsa. In the Vamana-Purana, ahimsa is personified as the wife of Dharma, whose offspring, Nara and Narayana (epithets of Arjuna and Krishna respectively), pointed the way to spiritual enlightenment.
